Finding a great Wine Club

A great wine club is hard to find for most people. Why? well, first of all, where do you look. Most of the local phone directories don't list much. When you search online, you find so many that you do not know where to start. Lets see if we can narrow that down a bit for you and help you find the right wine club for you.

Lets start with what a wine club is. A wine club is a basically a service that will ship wine bottles to you directly to your door. You have a huge selection of brands, tastes, whites, reds and everything in between. Modern wine culture is just in it's early stages and the rapidly growing business of the wine clubs around the world are popping up all over the place.

Let me mention that there are some limitations on shipping wine across borders and state lines. Some legislation has been put in place in several states that both limit and ban the amount of direct wine sales to consumers. You must check your local state laws before pursuing a wine club membership and supplier.

Now, on with the rest. There are a lot of new wine clubs coming up as new businesses and as any new market you will always get the ones that try to milk as much as they can from consumers. This is what I hope to show you how to avoid in looking how to find the right club for you. There is no governing body that oversees the wine clubs and many complaints have been filed about the value and bottle selection people are receiving. There have since been several wine club review and rating web sites create for customers to learn everything they can ahead of time.

Wine club selection should be as local as you can get. If you are in a vineyard rich area, then that is going to be easy. Such as California, where there are lots of vineyards and wine clubs, almost too many to choose from again. Start with their history and years of business. Then ask if you can have some references, or even do some searching for reviews of that specific business.

You also need to know your own taste and price range. Wine clubs are quite varied each offer a selection of prices , wine styles, and region specific. Each wine clue will also offer different packages. For your price range, you can spend $20 a month for 1 bottle shipped to your door, or you can spend $100+ a month for multiple bottles. You can also go with bi-monthly and many other package options.

Your taste will probably be one of the first decisions you will want to make, try to narrow down the type of wine you would like to sample on a regular basis. If you are more open to a wider variety, then you might consider 2 different sellers. Go with 2 alternating by-monthly services from different wine clubs. If you don't like one, cancel and try another.

There is really not much more that you want to do, a wine club is to discover new wines that you normally would not have considered in your local supermarket. So, the only thing you need to do is just go out and sign up to one or 2.

One of the great things about Wine Clubs is that you can try new brands, types, etc. It is great for someone who is new to wine or just wants to expand their knowledge and wine experience. You might just discover the best wine you have ever tasted.

You do not have to worry about wasting your time or money either. Most of the wine clubs I have seen and used offer money back guarantees. If you receive a wine that really disagrees with you and you can't stomach it, no problem, they will refund your money. No loss there.

Even another great feature about wine clubs is that they often offer many events to attend that include mostly wine tasting, but also include wine tasting seminars and courses. If you want to learn how to differentiate between wines and identify the tastes you like and dislike, a course is a great way to learn how, especially if you are new to the wine scene.

One of the great things that I like is that you can learn about the wines that you receive from the wine clubs. You will get detailed history of the wine, the vineyard and more. This can be very useful if you find a wine that you really enjoy, you can select other wines from the same region, vineyard or grape type. You don't get that sort of service in your local wine store, do you?

Let the wine club do the work for you too. Why do you want to spend all the time researching all the vineyards and wines available, when you can have someone do all the work for you and suggest and offer you only the great ones ? Yes, you do leave the decisions up to someone else, but generally they are very good at what they do and they filter out all the "no so great" ones out there. I am sure you have had wine that you don't like and if you purchased it at a store would they return it? probably not. A wine club will.

How to Make Wine at Home

Why would you want to make wine at home? There are many reasons you will or already do make wine at home, it saves you a lot of money for one and the variety is almost endless. Depending on how much you drink, you can save thousands of dollars a year in the difference in price from buying bottled wine at the wine cellar's or stores.

I decided to create a simple blog about wine making, to both write down what I know and collect information into one place. I have a lot of area to cover, so I will be posting as fast as I can write my entries.
